On Friday we walked from Ballinastoe, Co. Wicklow to our hostel beside Lough Dan through damp, muddy and generally unpleasant weather conditions. That evening we played team bonding games, ate chocolate and then whispered ghost stories around the campfire.

The next day dawned bright and clear, meaning that we could actually see the breathtaking views as we hiked the three hours from our hostel to Glendalough. We finally arrived aching and exhausted but extremely proud of ourselves and our achievement. We’d like to thank Ms. Harmon, Ms. Ryan and especially Ms. Mackey for her chocolate, jellies, sunny enthusiasm and everlasting encouragement.

TRIP TO SOUTH OF IRELAND

The International Students took off on bank holiday Monday to the South of Ireland. They enjoyed a visit to the Crag Cave and touring the fabulous Ring of Kerry and its many features (Muckross House and Waterfall/Ross Castle). They also discovered the many shopping charms of Killarney and Tralee.

For many, it was their last visit to yet again another corner of this Island. We wish them all a safe return to their own country and to their families and we hope they will keep a happy memory of their time in Rathdown School and in Ireland! Slán!
