The Board of Rathdown School has been informed that the decision by Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council to grant permission for the construction of a 2nd Hockey pitch is now fully in force and that the School now has full planning to proceed.
The school is seeking to finance this facility by fundraising and renting to other users. We will also be applying for support under the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sports 2012 Sports Capital Programme in conjunction with Monkstown Hockey Club. This application for a sports capital grant will be made in March.
Work to reach agreement with other users and to secure donor support is already underway as part of the Vision2020 plan. Subject to progress on funding, the School will look to commence construction during 2012.

After a great deal of research, consultation and planning, earlier in 2007, Rathdown presented a Vision document to our community and were delighted to receive positive comments and suggestions. Our vision was created from the hopes and desires of students, parents, teachers, members of the Board of Management and Board of Governors and other key stakeholders.
