DESIGN TEAM
A major step toward achieving the future development of Rathdown School has just been made. Rathdown School is pleased to announce that the Design Team has been appointed to oversee the process of concept design development and preparation and submission of the planning applications for the first phase of the School's Master Plan. The team consists of Eugene Dunne, Managing Director, KMD Architecture; Simon O'Brien, Joint Managing Director, Homan O'Brien Associates, Mechanical and Electrical Consulting Services; David Turner, Quantity Surveyer; and Peter Brunner, Consulting Engineer.

PHASE 1
The first phase of this exciting development for Rathdown consists of two projects - the new Science and Technology Building and the astroturf Hockey Pitch. The Science and Technology building will incorporate sustainable elements in its design, and the team is currently assessing such issues as ventilation, lighting, energy usage and waste reduction. Two separate planning applications for each of these projects needs to be made to the Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Council, and they are expected to be submitted by the end of this school term.

SUBSTANTIAL DONATION
The funding needed for this vital concept design and planning application stage has been covered in full by a substantial six-figure gift from a Rathdown family who wish to remain anonymous. The School is extremely grateful for this generous donation which is assisting Rathdown to realise its strong and exciting vision for the future.
