As a leading school in Ireland, it is extremely important to the entire Rathdown community for us to have a strong and exciting vision of our future. After a great deal of research, consultation and planning, earlier in 2007, Rathdown presented a Vision document to our community and were delighted to receive positive comments and suggestions. Our vision was created from the hopes and desires of students, parents, teachers, members of the Board of Management and Board of Governors and other key stakeholders.
FULL PLANNING PERMISSION GRANTED – NOV 10
We are delighted to report that Rathdown School has been granted full planning permission for a New Academic Wing and the enhancement of existing facilities following a review of the Dun Laoighare and Rathdown Councils decision to grant permission by An Bord Pleanala. This will involve:
• The enhancement and renewal the Academic Facilities in the Senior School to improve the provision in the three Sciences, History, Geography, Art, Home Economics and Special Needs.
• The enhancement and renewal of the Indoor facilities for Physical Education & Development including a Dance Studio.
• The enhancement of public spaces for the School community and relaxation areas for the girls.
With thanks to the team led by Building Committee Chairman, Peter Cosgrave and Architect Eugene Dunne of KMD & Associates that has led us through this long and detailed process.
The School has made a planning submission (March 11) for the improvement of the outdoor facilities with the addition of a 2nd astroturf facility which will support the plans of our new Director of Hockey for increasing participation and performance levels in hockey.
