On Friday 20th April, Rathdown Junior School hosted the AIJS Music Festival. This music festival sees other junior schools coming together to play for each other and is a highlight of any school ensemble’s calendar. Rathdown Junior School students were joined on the day by students from Rathgar Junior School, Alexandra Junior School and Children’s House School. The adjudicator for the day was conductor, Karen Ní Bhroin who gave brilliant feedback to each group.
Each school brought a group of performers to share a piece or two with us. We had banjo, violin, harp and orchestral performances and some choirs too. It was a wonderful day of music-making with performances from the Rathdown Junior School Choir (made up of P5 and P6 students) who sang ‘How far I’ll go’ from Moana. Our very own Rathdown Junior School Orchestra closed the festival with an “out of this world” performance of themes
from Star Wars which knocked our socks off!!.It was a very enjoyable afternoon for all involved. Many thanks to Ms Stamper, Ms Crotty and Ms Zutshi for all their work preparing for the successful festival and special word of thanks to Daria for doing such a fantastic job face painting!
